Overview

Transcript Fixer Pro ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that automatically fixes Bengali text formatting in textareas on web pages. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our extension.

Information We Collect

License Activation Data

• Activation Key: Your unique activation key (e.g., BABEL-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) is stored locally
• License Token: A verification token from our server, stored locally for validation
• Activation Timestamp: Date and time when the extension was activated
• Device ID: A random identifier generated locally on install (not tied to your Google account or browsing identity), used to bind your license to this device
• Version Information: Extension version number

Local Configuration

• Word Replacement Rules: Custom word replacement pairs you configure
• No Personal Data: We do not collect names, emails, or any personal information
• No Browsing History: We do not track or store your browsing activity

Remote Activation Service

When you activate the extension, the following is sent to our server (act.cf.shadikur.com):

• Activation key
• Extension ID
• Extension name and version
• User agent (browser information)

AI-Assisted Fix (Optional Add-on)

Some licenses include an optional AI-Assisted Fix feature: select text in a textarea, press Alt+T, and the selection is classified and corrected using AI. This only happens when (a) the feature is enabled on your license and (b) you explicitly invoke it via Alt+T — never automatically or in the background.

• What is sent: Only the specific word or phrase you select — never your full transcript, never other page content, never your browsing history.
• Who processes it: The selection is sent to our backend, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider — OpenAI and/or DeepSeek — for classification. Your request is subject to each provider's own API data-use terms.
• What we store: We do not persistently store the text you select. Only usage metadata (timestamp, daily request count, success/failure) is kept, to enforce your license's daily usage limit.
• Opt-in by design: The first time your license is detected as AI-enabled, the extension shows a one-time notice before the feature will respond to Alt+T at all.

How We Use Information

License Management

• Activation Verification: Validate your license against our server, including periodic background checks so revoked or expired licenses stop working promptly
• One Device Per Key: Each activation key binds to a single device. Deactivating a key is permanent — it cannot be reused or reactivated, on that device or any other

Text Processing

• Local Processing Only: Standard text-fixing (punctuation, spacing, custom word replacements, and bulk "Fix All Textareas") happens entirely in your browser
• No Data Transmission (Standard Fixes): Text processed by the standard fixer is never sent anywhere
• AI-Assisted Fix Is Different: If enabled on your license and invoked via Alt+T, the selected snippet only (not the rest of your transcript) is sent to OpenAI/DeepSeek for classification — see "AI-Assisted Fix" above
• Shared Word Dictionary: Foreign-word and brand-name corrections discovered via AI-Assisted Fix (across all customers, not just you) are pooled into a shared dictionary. Your extension periodically downloads this dictionary in the background so standard "Fix All Textareas" can use it too — this is a one-way download of word pairs only; none of your text is ever uploaded as part of this
• No Storage: We don't persistently store, log, or retain any text content you process, standard or AI-assisted

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Permissions Explained

🔑 activeTab Permission

Purpose: Access the current tab when you click the extension
Usage: Required to find and modify textarea elements
Limitation: Only works when you activate it; no background access

💾 storage Permission

Purpose: Store activation status and preferences locally
Data Stored: License token, activation date, custom word replacements
Security: Uses Chrome's encrypted storage APIs

⚙️ scripting Permission

Purpose: Inject scripts to fix text in textareas
Usage: Only when you click "Fix All Textareas"
Scope: Limited to text processing functionality

Data Security

Local Storage Security

• Encryption: Data stored using Chrome's encrypted storage APIs
• No Cloud Storage: Nothing stored on remote servers (except activation validation)
• Browser Protection: Protected by Chrome's security mechanisms

Network Security

• HTTPS Only: All server communication uses HTTPS encryption
• Minimal Transmission: Only activation data transmitted, no content
• No Tracking: We don't track how you use the extension

Your Rights and Choices

Control Over Data

• View Settings: Access all stored settings in the options page
• Modify Data: Change or delete word replacements anytime
• Export/Backup: Manually backup settings before uninstalling

Deactivation & Uninstall

• Deactivate Anytime: Remove your license through the activation page
• Complete Removal: Uninstalling removes all local data
• Deactivation Is Permanent: A deactivated key cannot be reactivated or reused — you'll need a new activation key to use the extension again
